Ley Lines: Patterns of the Ancient Earth

In a recent interview I heard a parapsychologist remark that the existence of ley lines was unverifiable because they could only be determined by dowsing, which method (as he claimed) being paranormal, is itself unverifiable. What the parapsychologist seemed not to be aware of is that ley lines can readily be plotted on any good [1]map, using equipment no more ‘paranormal’ than an ordinary pencil and ruler. In Europe such landscape features as megalithic stone circles, hilltop churches and other such ancient sites can be connected with each other in straight lines, often over considerable distances. Why churches? Because these often were built upon the foundations of pagan monuments which the new faith destroyed.

Ley lines can be found in many locations around the world. In our contemporary era they were first brought to light by Englishman Alfred Watkins, who published a [2]book of his findings in 1925. Watkins discovered that lines on the landscape - sometimes invisible, sometimes forming straight trackways - connected many places whose antiquity suggested that he was dealing with a body of ancient knowledge whose meaning and purpose had since been lost.

Watkins' research established that the lines went far beyond anything that might have been due to chance, and sometimes extended for hundreds of miles between stone circles, Bronze Age burial sites, and churches, hilltop and otherwise. Many Roman roads, renowned for their arrow-straightness, actually follow these tracks, and it is these roads which can provide further clues to the leys’ whereabouts.

But what purpose do these lines serve? Clearly they had significance for those who marked their presence. Ideas as to what this purpose might have been vary from ancient survey lines to connections with underground water sources. There have even been suggestions that UFO's seem to make use of them, following leys in their paths of flight.

The author Tom Graves took the [3]idea to the next level and proposed a similar purpose to the meridian lines used in the curative practice of acupuncture. This theory suggested that the stone megaliths buried upright in the earth functioned as 'needles' in the same way that acupuncture needles are said to stimulate the flow of the body's subtle energy, with the ley lines marking out the paths of energy between them. In this way, the energy of the Earth itself could be refreshed and revitalized.

While preparing this post, the inevitable question for me was: sitting at my computer here in Holland, could I actually locate and plot a ley line of my own? Could I, just by using available data from the Internet, discover a ley line at any given location in the world? I opted for several locations which I knew by reputation to be locations of alleged paranormal activity, all of them within the two neighboring states of Indiana and Ohio. Evansville in southern Indiana is home to the Willard Library, with its famed [4]ghostly Grey Lady and other assorted entities. Across the State line in Ohio, Oxford is known for the [5]Oxford Light – a disembodied luminous entity which pursues terrified drivers along a specific stretch of road at night. Nearby Wright Patterson Air Force Base just outside Dayton is notorious for its supernatural occurrences and mysterious manifestations.

Three points on a map with clear paranormal connections. But do they make a ruler-straight line? Staggeringly, they do! A line drawn from Evansville to Dayton (a distance on the ground of over two hundred miles) passes directly through the Oxford location (my map, below). And when the line is extended it passes southeast of Cleveland. Why is this significant? Because this area is a known ‘hot spot’ for various unexplained phenomena up to and including [6]UFO sightings.

Could I correlate more data? From independent sources I collected data for UFO sightings and similar aerial phenomena, and also for the distribution of Native American mounds and related sites – the New World equivalent of European megalithic monuments. Lastly, from the data base of the [7]Bigfoot Field Researchers’ Organization I added all the reported sightings of that particular cryptid across both states. Remember: all of these sets of data were gleaned from sources independent of each other. I then converted each data set to a separate layer and superimposed them upon my map. Significantly, all data sets clustered at the hot spot southeast of Cleveland – the only place on the map where this happened. And surprisingly enough, Bigfoot seems to favour the area immediately north and east of Evansville – although over the border in Ohio the hairy horror appears to have made the whole state his own.

Of course I realize that other locations of significance which involve haunt and other alleged paranormal phenomena might cluster along this line. I’m just dealing with the material that is known to me. And on the basis of such material the evidence for an Indiana-Ohio ley line is persuasive, and does tend to suggest that such phenomena seem to be ‘aware’ of a ley line’s presence, and are attracted to it, perhaps as some form of energy source which they utilise to materialise in our reality. But which reality do they call home?

Notes:
[1] In Britain, the hugely-detailed Ordnance Survey maps are excellent for this purpose.

[2] Alfred Watkins: The Old Straight Track.

[3] Tom Graves: Needles of Stone.

[4] Webcams of the library’s interior are installed and can be viewed at:

Some years ago I was involved with a group that kept an eye on these cams. Some of the stuff that the cams captured was truly bizarre, and these phenomena – and on-the-spot investigations by specific groups – have led some investigators to speculate that the Willard Library is not so much ‘haunted’ as it is a portal for other realities. Our group witnessed various anomalies, including a pair of bizarre disembodied legs wearing white sneakers that walked around often enough to be captured on camera various times, and one inexplicable something about the size of a child that used to crawl over the floor which we simply called the GCT (right) - the Grey Crawling Thing! And most - but certainly not all - of this was at night, after the library had closed its doors to visitors.

[5] There are a number of videos on YouTube uploaded by those who have experienced the Oxford Light phenomenon. Heck, you know the search terms.

[6] UFO: unidentified flying object. It’s a poor term, because it assumes an act of flying for something that might be doing something entirely different. I prefer the term ‘unidentified aerial phenomenon’, which comfortably includes such mysterious and poorly-understood (but nevertheless natural) phenomena as ball lightning. My own vivid experience in a remote region of Australia I would consider to belong to this category.

[7] The BFRO dedicatedly maintains a comprehensive data base of sightings and other reports (tracks, vocalizations, etc.) of the Bigfoot phenomenon in all U.S. states. My own stance on Bigfoot has for years unwaveringly categorized the phenomenon as at least partially, if not wholly, paranormal. http://www.bfro.net/

John Michell’s The New View Over Atlantis has further information about ley lines in general, as of course does the Tom Graves title mentioned above. B. Ann Slate and Alan Berry’s Bigfoot is still for me the best book ever on the cryptid, and definitely recommended for those stalwarts who remain convinced either that it (A) doesn’t exist, or (B) is simply an unknown flesh-and-blood creature.

Top picture: I stood in the middle of a bleak and freezing January field in Yorkshire, northern England, to get this shot. The winter sun had climbed as high as it was going to get, and the way in which it reflected off the ice on the frozen track was a gift. 1. Interesting blog post. Have you mapped area native american formations? So many of the formations have been lost to time in counties like Spencer and Warrick due to farming. Would be an interesting bit of research tho.

  2. I found your overlay very interesting myself, as a lifelong resident of this region, and of Native decent. I am greatly interested in close-up plotting of your reports of your charts. You say only "Southeast of Cleveland". Well there is ALOT of area and towns there! I actually found your site while attempting, to no avail, to find Ley Line plotting in perspective to specific towns in Ohio. That HOT cluster southeast of Cleveland is VERY MUCH of interest. Any Help sharing your plots? Thank you Much!~ Your site is very interesting.

    1. Lissa, my apologies for having overlooked replying to your comment. I'm aware myself that my map overlay of this area is limited to the resolution which the internet provided. Plus, that I'm doing all this at a distance from mainland Europe. My main aim was to show the way in which the area southeast of Cleveland provides a cluster of nodes of these different phenomena. You're fortunate to be in the area, and maybe you can find some more detailed maps that will help you to pinpoint things with a greater degree of accuracy than I have been able to here.

  3. Concerned Mother, I appreciate your comments and am sorry to hear that your son has been experiencing the difficulties you describe. I believe that it is possible for these energies to have an influence upon our lives, and tend to think that different people who feel that they have been affected by such energies need different solutions, depending upon their own beliefs.

    Perhaps it might be worth considering whether you feel that the negative events are due specifically to your son's location (that is: the property where he is living) or to your son personally. I have known people to actually relocate as a solution, but this depends upon your son's situation, whether this is feasible, and how serious things are. Otherwise traditional methods can be used, such as 'smudging' with sage to cleanse the property, or a blessing, depending upon personal beliefs.

    I do hope that this might be of some help, and send you my own blessing and strength for yourself and your son to cope with this situation, and trust that you will find a good and positive outcome.

  4. Concerned mother, I too live in Southern Indiana. I'd like to know more about his situation. If it has to do with his home, smudging got rid of mine. I dealt with it for 20 yrs, much more. Maybe meditating to release negative energy can help. I wish you the best.

  5. Hello I also am located in Indiana as well, and also would like to know more about ley lines in said state as I have also come across energetic changes and connections through these energy grids which has come over me as my awakening. I hope your son finds the peace in his mind that you wish apon him,

  8. I live south so Cleveland in Trumbull county, in a smalltown called Cortland. You're not too far off the mark when you say that bigfoot seems to have made Ohio it's own. What needs added is that they seem to be the nephillim and also able to pose as our loved ones, like shaleshifters/skinwalkers. This verse comes to mind;"and kn the days of noah, they TOOK wives they chose..." Many pastors miss this but it would seem that 1 the women have no option 2 They arent proposed to as thsh take wives aka women who are already wives. This has greatly affected my life since 2017. For personal reasons, I'm trying to determine if a laylinw runs through my town, as I seem to be "stuck" here. The entire town indeed "aeems" compromised. I'm seeking a portal in our town as I live right near a lake as well. I've had the supernatural affect me since I was a kid and could greatly use some assistance from one more experienced. Pls see my video "my dream of the falen..."where I explaon what's happening here, through my ongoing testimony @bereanJenn Just a witness's youtube channel. Seeking info amd fellowship, also seeking to aid others with what I've learned. Many prayers, we need em. Jenn

  9. Hello.
    Very intriguing insight you've presented!!. I certainly have enjoyed
    reading your work.

    A bit about me : I was born and raised in Dayton Ohio. ( Born 1955 ).
    I actually grew up on the West Side of Dayton, right across the Miami
    River and the city of Miamisburg.

    Miamisburg is the location of The Miamisburg Mound.
    which has an interesting history indeed.
    Research the Miamisburg Mound,
    Operation Paperclip and the Manhattan Project, 1515 Nicolas Road and Monsanto.
    ( My family actually lived less than 10 minutes from 1515 Nicholas Rd, and we passed that location quite frequently.
    ~~~~~~
    I've had Esoteric Experiences and dreams ( many premonition ), and experienced telepathically events all of my life.
    Although born in Dayton, I now live about a half hour away from Fort Ancient near Mason Ohio, and about an hour from The Great Serpent Mound.
    I won't delve into my personal experiences ( although I've had a gazillion fascinating paranormal experiences, which have been an absolutely incredible part of my journey. )
    What is interesting is that many of the dreams and experiences are connecting with recent historic events that are happening now on the World Stage, including The Shifting of Ages, The Fourth Industrial Revolution aka The Great Reset, and the
    ushering in the New Atlantis ( we know now as America )
    Also, the ushering in of Transhumanism via Artificial Intelligence, and what I believe is Humanity's precarious time in history.
    My comment to you today however concerns your theory about Ley Lines
    and connections to Ohio and Indiana, although I would add Kentucky into that equation as well. ( My family ( Grandparents and Father were from KY ) .
    Be that as it may, my perspective and objective
    is concerning Dayton, Ohio.
    I don't know if you knew this about Dayton Ohio but Dayton was the Silicon Valley of its Day.
    The number of inventions patented by Dayton Inventors runs into the thousands.
    Inventions that have changed the course of history. One such invention was the Cash Register, Patented by James Ritty, but developed into the Behemoth it became ( NCR Corp ) by John H. Patterson.
    Research Alan Turning's visit to NCR and the Enigma machine.
    Also in your browser type ; Dayton Patents , a treasure trove of inventions!!
    Also Charles Kettering.
    I'm sure you are aware of Roswell and its connection to Wright Patterson Airforce Base ( we call it Wright Patt ).
    Research Operation Paper Clip and Winfried Otto Schumann and the Schumann Resonance . Schumann just ""happened"" to be at Wright Patt , the same year ( 1947-1948 ) of the Roswell Incident.
    I don't think it was a coincidence.
    While in the Air Force, Rod Serling , the creator of the very iconic 1960's TV show ; Twilight Zone, was based at Wright Patt , and attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs( a 'hippie' enclave village 35 miles east of Dayton ).
    Serling also became a Prof at Antioch as well.
    Serling wove a lot of reference of Ohio into many of the Twilight Zone Episodes.
    The Psychic Edgar Cayce , ( who was from Kentucky ) also called Dayton Ohio home for a period of time. I've read that Cayce actually had a vision of building his A. R. E. Institute while he ( Cayce ) was still
    living in Dayton.
    Of course there is much much more to this rabbit hole, but I thought I'd
    add a bit of info that I've gathered, and to say that I absolutely agree with much of your work that you've presented.
    Great Work !!!
  10. I live in Northeast Ohio at the bottom of Ashtabula county. I've been wondering about local lay lines. I get tons of UAP activity. I actually believe there is a permanent craft local...lots of pics over the last year show such oddness. Good article!
